UNRISD is a small organization with around 20 full time staff members, based in Geneva. Members of professional staff are supported by approximately 6-10 Research Analysts per year. The Institute offers a very limited number of internships every year. Applicants, who are studying towards a Masters degree, are advised to have support from a sponsoring university or to be within the framework of an academic programme as internships at UNRISD are non-remunerated.

Candidates must have an academic background and research interests corresponding to the topics of the Institute's research programme. The duration of the internship is 3-6 months.
